After a somewhat stressful weekend my partner and I arrived in Amsterdam bedraggled, we saw that this reasonably priced hotel had a room available. On arrival the staff were charming, helpful and made us both feel human again. We were taken to our top floor room, up the winding stairs which added to the beauty and charm of the hotel. The room. On entering we were shocked at the beauty, style, quality. Our host showed us the facilities and left us to enjoy our new home for the night. After siting by the open window looking at the peaceful canal and neighbourhood, over a coffee, we phoned down to reception and asked if there were rooms available for the rest of the week. The following day over a fine breakfast we were asked if would care to join the hotel's motor boat for a cruise of the canals that evening. We accepted. The cruise included cakes and wine/beer and was complimentary, yes! completely gratis. What an amazing hotel, staff, and city. Go to Amsterdam, stay at the canal hotel. We will return here for our honeymoon.
Our Escape from Duties was our gift to ourselves after a very busy Christmas period, a chance to unwind and connect again in the wonderful laid back elegance that is Amsterdam. We took the tram from central Station to Fredricks Plein and the hotel was a few minutes walk away. We were welcomed and upgraded to a lovely room, 2nd floor to the front of the hotel. As expected tall narrow staircases, 38 steps to our room. There was no traffic noise issue despite being on the street side of the hotel. The staff were very polite, discreet and professional. The breakfast was fresh and offered excellent choices. Good coffee too.
We enjoyed the location of the hotel as it gave us an opportunity to be near busier area, Rembrandt Plein, but gave an insight to Amsterdam city living. The streets around the hotel on the way to the centre were beautiful, quiet and so typical of Amsterdam. We loved it.
We would book to stay again as the overall quality was very good value and we found very little to fault. Perhaps a small bedside locker/stand with a drawer would have been good and as we are used to a double bed at home, the twin bed arrangement felt slightly less romantic however the Hastens beds were so comfortable and warm we really had no complaint.
Good tram links and a taxi rank 2 minutes walk away. It's a lovely hotel in a fabulous city full of romance. Treat yourself! Our escape was a great way to begin 2016
The room was a bit small, but there was enough place for everything. And it was just as clean and beautiful as it looks in the official pictures (this often is not the case in hotels!).
Espresso machine, mini-bar, beautiful room and comfortable beds -- all this just brought a smile to our face.
The breakfast was just excellent, lovely view to the canal from the breakfast room.
Rarely have I met so friendly staff, not only people at the reception but also the housekeepers. We were impressed. We were traveling with a toddler who got a comfy extra bed and the staff were nice also to him.
The location is really good, several tram lines in the neighborhood and also a hop on hop off canal line brought us close to the hotel. The noise from the trams does come to the rooms on the street side, but this didn't disturb -- you can also avoid it by booking a hotel with a canal view (Tripadvisor, 9 July 2015).
Perfect location, breakfast was beter than perfect, fresh and tastefull breakfast. Room was very nice with view on the canal! We're coming back. Keep on the good work, only a couple of minutes walking from the Leidseplein and all of Amsterdams best locations! (Tripadvisor, 8 July 2015)
We visited Amsterdam as a couple in the last week of May this year. It was English half term week which didn't seem to affect Amsterdam! The Eurostar on the way was very busy however. The hotel is extremely well placed in the quiet, historic part of the City. We could walk to every sight/tourism hotspot from the hotel. The room was compact but everything was in working order, particularly the noisy air con which we asked them to fix and they did immediately. Breakfast was excellent.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights (me & my wife). Location was excellent, 10 mins from RembrandtPlein and with lots of trams around.
Team was great, helped us with everything we needed (recommendations, room AC). Beautiful view of the canals! Highly recommended! (Tripadvisor, 7 June 2015)
We had a wonderful stay in the Amsterdam Canal Hotel. It took us a while to find as the directions that we were sent were a bit vague but we got there in the end! We had a room on the ground floor but still had a beautiful view of the canal. Our room was a little small but we didn't mind as it was ony a base. The bed was large and very comfortable - the fluffiest pillows imaginable.
My partner and I stayed at the Amsterdam Canal hotel over the Easter long weekend.
The hotel is located in great location about a 10 minute stroll from Rembrandt Square. We stayed on the top floor, which was 3 flights of stairs but this was no problem. (They did mentioned that they're going to install a lift).
Breakfast was a cold buffet or six options from the a la carte menu. Scrambled eggs with bacon and asparagus just great.
The bed was enormous with 3 port windows, one as the bed head.
Bathroom was perfect, though the water pressure in the morning was a little weak.
Totally recommend a visit, staff where really friendly and always accommodating. Saw one of the bigger rooms which had huge windows over looking the canal and a massive bathroom.
Also head to utrechsestraat for great shopping and restaurants. About 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Go on and treat yourself it was just great.
